Elizabeth Peters, MDiv, LCSW

Elizabeth is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, who has practiced counseling in an outpatient setting for many years.  She received her Master of Social Work from University of Pittsburgh and Master of Divinity from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary and has worked with people and families from a wide diversity of religious, spiritual, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.   

Elizabeth has provided treatment for children, adolescents, and adults of all ages, in both individual, family and group therapy. She worked as a counselor in Pittsburgh public schools for elementary and high school aged students and has  extensive experience helping college and graduate students navigate the school  environment from test anxiety to identifying career goals. 

Recognizing the importance of  tailoring therapy to the distinct needs of clients, Elizabeth uses a variety of treatment modalities.  She draws upon her background and training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, mindfulness training and mind-body therapies (yoga, somatic experiencing, and meditation).  She also enjoys incorporating art and play therapy into her work with children and adolescents. 

Specific areas of practice interest include depression,  anxiety,  women’s issues, parenting and  relationship concerns, the LGBT population, healing from trauma, and particular issues facing children and adolescents such as attention problems,  bullying, low self-esteem, and sleep difficulties.

In her free time, Elizabeth enjoys hiking and kayaking, swimming, painting, and drawing, playing music and singing, gardening and hanging out with her kids, family and Berne-doodle Mia.
